CPA Board Exams

Before we embark on the past ten years of my corporate life, let me tell you first about the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Board Examination that I took back in October 1999…

I graduated from University of Santo Tomas (UST) in April 1999. After which, I proceeded to review school for the CPA board exams. It was a grueling 5 months. I turned my world upside down that time. I went to the PSBA Review Center in Manila. Review was from 7am to 5pm. What I did was, I dissed one subject (I was reviewing for 8 subjects!) and used that to self study. I would then stay at the review center until 7 in the evening, sometimes way past that time to make use of their library to study some more. When I get home, I went directly to sleep until 12am. I would then wake up and study until I could open my eyes. That’s normally around 5am.

Let me tell you, this worked for me big time! I learned during that period that my mind was like a sponge during 12am onwards. I seized that knowledge and took advantage of it!

I would then go back to sleep at 5am and wake up at 6:30am to prepare for review center. There were days when I was like a walking zombie. But you know, I never got sick. I was running on an adrenaline high during that time. No knowledge spilled over, I tell you.
